I know what you’re thinking: Urban poling seems goofy AF. But seriously, this is an episode worth listening to. It definitely changed my feelings! I’ve been debating whether or not to use poles when I try to run the La Cloche Trail in the fall (schedule and weather dependent), and this may have tipped the scales in favor of getting a set. (Also, I didn’t realize that Nordic poles could actually be pretty inexpensive! The ones with some of the best Amazon reviews are only $24, so I admit, I ordered a pair to try out ASAP.)
That was a tangent, sorry. Anyway, urban poling is a) great for injury rehab and recovery, which is super interesting to me from a client perspective/something to think about if I get injured, but b) since it actually makes walking less efficient, it’s more bang for your metabolic buck, turning walking into a full-body workout. Hmmm.
And, of course, Peter couldn’t resist getting our urban poling expert Barb Gormley to talk about the fitness industry and how to become an expert/make a career in your particular niche. So even if the whole ‘walk’ thing isn’t your jam (it should be!), it’s worth a listen.
