Welcome to Consummate Athlete
At Consummate Athlete, our mission is to empower busy adults to achieve their cycling goals while fostering long-term health and happiness through movement. Whether you’re aiming to conquer a local gravel race, overcome injury, avoid burnout, or set a personal best at a bucket list event like the Leadville 100, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Meet Peter + Molly
All of that said… you might still be wondering who the heck we are. Fair question. We’re Peter Glassford and Molly Hurford. 10 years ago, we met at a bike race in China (seriously) and while it wasn’t exactly love at first sight, it was pretty darn close. Since then, we’ve combined our lives, our passions and our businesses to form Consummate Athlete.
Peter’s been a cycling coach for two decades now, while Molly’s been writing about endurance sport in books and magazines for the same time span. With our powers combined, in 2016, we launched the Consummate Athlete Podcast (and got married).
A few years later, we moved Peter’s coaching and Molly’s content under the same umbrella to create this website you’re on today. (We also got a miniature dachshund, but that’s neither here nor there.)
About Peter Glassford
Peter Glassford is a Registered Kinesiologist and Chartered Professional Endurance Coach. He brings over two decades of coaching experience helping masters, age-group and adult endurance athletes achieve their goals. He has also consulted with private, provincial and national athletes and teams on camps, skill development and programming. His coaching philosophy prioritises consistent training, off-bike movement and strategic use of planning to balance life demands.
Peter has competed in many cycling disciplines in addition to experience with team sports, running and triathlon personally and through clients during his 20+ years of coaching. He previously held the Canadian record for the Leadville 100 MTB, and has raced at the World Cup level in XCO mountain biking. He’s currently a Masters National Champion in XCO.

About Molly Hurford
Molly Hurford is a writer in love with all things cycling, running, nutrition and movement-related. When not outside, she’s writing about being outside and healthy habits of athletes or interviewing world-class athletes and scientists here and for outlets like Bicycling and Canadian Running magazines. She’s the author of multiple books including several nonfiction endurance sport-related titles in addition to the Shred Girls series and runs Strong Girl Publishing.
Molly is a little obsessed with getting people—especially women—psyched on adventure and being outside. The former Ironman triathlete and cyclocrosser now spends time racing ultra-runs on trails, and holds the overall record for the Outlaw 100-mile trail race by several hours.
Certifications: RRCA run coach certified, USA Cycling Level 3 coach, Precision Nutrition Level 1, PMBI MTN Level 1, Yoga Alliance-certified
About DW the Dachshund
Meet the third and final member of our little team, DW the Dachshund. You may see (or hear) him pop up in our videos and podcasts. (Sorry about that.) But despite his small stature, he’s a great motivator when it comes to getting out on long hikes or paddleboard sessions, and he really epitomizes two of our core tenants of Confidence and Cross-Training. (His Community needs a little work.)
