The Happy Runner: Love the Process, Get Faster, Run Longer by David and Megan Roche is March’s Athletic Bookworm pick, and like David is all the time, I am FREAKING STOKED. We just had him on the Consummate Athlete Podcast, and it was honestly the most positive vibes I’ve ever gotten from a phone call. The book is the same.
About The Happy Runner: “Authors David and Megan Roche believe that you can’t reach your running potential without consistency and joyful daily adventures that lead to long-term health and happiness. Guided by their personal experiences and coaching expertise, they point out the mental and emotional factors that will help you learn exactly how to become a happy runner and achieve your personal best. Following the “some work, all play” approach, The Happy Runner introduces the three commandments of happy running and teaches you how to balance the effort of running with the simple joy of the activity.”
I’m working with David as my coach right now, but even with our daily interaction, I’m still finding tons of value as I go through this book. Cannot recommend enough for runners of all types, or even just another type of athlete who’s feeling kind of down on athletics. It’s about running, but there’s tons of mental stuff in there that can boost your performance in anything!
