When I started working on the update to ‘Saddle, Sore‘ in 2015, I stumbled across the realm of pelvic floor health. And then, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard about it before. But, of course, it’s in that ‘awkward’ category that just doesn’t get talked about very often. We’ve had other physical therapists on early episodes of the show talking about pelvic floor issues, but to me, it’s important enough to bring up again and again. Pain in your pelvic area, incontinence during running or lifting, pain during sex… there are so many issues that can be traced back to your pelvic floor, but so often, we don’t know when to get help! Abby Bales, the owner of Reform PT in NYC, hopped on the phone to talk all things athletic and pelvic floor-based, and I freaking loved this conversation.
