As someone who’s new to Canadian winters, the idea of cross-country skiing was a foreign concept to me two years ago. Fast-forward to now, and it’s something I’m really looking forward to: I love that I can ski out of our door and onto trails, and while I admittedly still kind of suck at gliding, it’s an awesome workout (and one that I can do for an hour to a coffeeshop, have a snack, and ski an hour back home!). So, we wanted to get someone who’s actually amazing at XC skiing on the Consummate Athlete Podcast, which meant bringing Jenn Jackson back onto the show. We talk all about how to get started in XC skiing — from the offseason before there’s snow, what you can do outside AND in the gym, and how to do things like actually make use of your ski poles and start gliding like a boss. I will be taking A LOT of tips from this show and putting them to use this season.
(PS: Jenn also CRUSHED me at the Howling Coyote Gravel Grinder this weekend, which Peter and I talk about in the intro… plus a couple of gravel grinder lessons I learned!)
