OK, time for something completely different for this month’s Athletic Bookworms! I love a good fictional novel, and this one just kept coming up in my searches—”Fitness Junkie: A Novel” by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza. Now, this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I wanted to try something new for this month, something that didn’t take itself serious AT ALL. Enter this cheesy and super-fun novel.
“From the bestselling authors of The Knockoff, an outrageously funny novel about one woman’s attempt—through clay diets, naked yoga, green juice, and cultish workout classes—to win back her career, save her best friend, and lose thirty pounds.”
I’m midway through it already (I get to cheat, it’s my book club!), and it’s pretty hilarious if you’re someone who’s deep in the fitness/wellness world. It’s definitely making me take myself a lot less seriously, so if that’s something you need in your life, grab it! (And if you need more convincing, read this interview with the author here.)
