I absolutely LOVED writing about FOMO for Bicycling last week. I think fear of missing out is becoming more and more prevalent as some people are back to the races, living their normal lives, while some people are still going through it. And as Amy Bell, the mental performance consultant I chatted with, says, now thanks to social media, you spend 5 minutes scrolling through EVERYTHING. You see the races, the vacations, the adventures, and it all blurs together into a giant ball of unattainable FOMO.
“Ask: ‘What is it really that I feel like I’m missing out on? Is it more of the social aspect? Is it the fact that it’s a race? Try to tease out what it actually is that you’re missing.”
