Hi, I’m here to give my weekly PSA on why carbohydrates are very important for athletes. I’ve said it a billion times on the Consummate Athlete Podcast and wrote about it in Fuel Your Ride, but any diet that suggests that as an athlete, you should cut out an entire food group is VERY likely not going to work for you. Sure, there are some people who insist that keto for athletes works… I am not one of those people. I think that we need every food group, including carbs, in order to fuel our various athletic endeavors. So, over on Outside this summer, I dug into the science, talked to some experts, and wrote this article about how to time your carbs for your best athletic performance—not just on race day, every day.
