Sonya Looney’s Plant-Based Nutrition Tips for Athletes

As you all know, endurance mountain biker Sonya Looney is one of my favorite amazing humans—I love her badass attitude towards tackling some of the world’s hardest MTB stage races, her entrepreneurial drive, her rad podcast, The Sonya Looney Show (where she’s had me on as a guest!) and her completely reasonable plant-based nutrition philosophies. I love a healthy vegan or plant-based diet, and Sonya has shown that for some people, it is possible to live your best athletic life while eating no animal products. Obviously, her exact diet may not work for everyone, but talking to her for Bicycling’s Eat Like an Elite column earlier this month reminded me to make sure that I’m packing more veggies into my diet on a daily basis.
