The Leadville Training Plan for Busy Masters Athletes

Are you doing the Leadville 100 MTB Race? Are you a busy, adult with limited time? At Consummate Athlete Coaching, Peter has helped over 100 masters aged mountain bikers SUCCEED at Leadville! The same rides, intervals, strategies, and timing are now available for you to follow in this 3 month Leadville Training Plan!

This plan will help you be ready for your HUGE day in August and guide you through some REALLY FUN adventures as you prepare for the race.

This plan is for Intermediate and advanced riders who are skilled and/or bold enough to take on a challenging event like the Leadville 100 Trail Mountain Bike Race! It will get you fit but also make sure you are prepared technically, tactically, and logistically. It follows the same progressions and ideas I have used to help athletes get both 9 and 12-hour belt buckles.


The plan requires about 6-8 hours in shorter weeks up to 12-15+ hours in longer weeks. The workouts suggest a range that you choose based on your daily availability, base-line fitness and your goals in the event.

What Does this Leadville Cycling Plan Include?

  • Leadville Tips or ‘Beta’ that are invaluable to avoid common mistakes and boost your results
  • Structured Workout Downloads are included for *many* bike workouts ( for Garmin / Zwift Etc )
  • Many Workouts that can be done indoors if desired/required
  • Core routine and 1-2 weekly yoga sessions are provided and encouraged throughout the plan
  • Workout Description with HR, Power and/or RPE – Flexible to your equiptment and preferences
  • Guidance and Options to shorten or extend workouts based on goals and availability

The Leadville Plan is a pre-made plan delivered by Training peaks, an online calendar software, that lets you get your workout and then upload it back into the system and make notes.

The plan uses workouts to prepare you mentally and physically and also reminds you to take easier days to avoid injury and burnout. There is also a lot of HARD work and BIG weekend riding blocks to help overcome the time limits that busy, adults have when preparing for AWESOME OFF-ROAD ADVENTURES!
