Ahh yes! The struggle is real when I see other girls with amazing long hair. For me, while the temptation is there, I can pretty easily scroll back on my phone and see that a) my short hair does look better, b) when my hair was long, it was up in a ponytail 99% of the time, and c) in most pictures, the long hair actually didn’t look that great on me. Plus I remind myself of how much time I save on maintenance and the fact that when I’m getting ‘dressed up,’ my hair still only takes about 15 seconds to do, and that usually calms me down…. and I remember how terrible that chin-length grow-out phase is and that’s enough to convince me to stay short!

I recently got a pixie this summer and I’ve been loving it! But whenever I see a girl with long beautiful hair I start missing my long hair (It was reallyy long like to my butt). And now I kind of want to grow it out but I’m always finding myself getting a trim everytime it grows a bit because it doesn’t look nice. Any tips?

YES! This made me so happy to read… and I really needed to see it because 2 years since chopping it again, I had a bit of a ‘should I grow it’ moment last week and this reminded me why I did it. Power to the pixie cuts!

I cut my hair into one, a few months after getting married. That was over 5 years ago. It is my second pixie. I miss my long hair every so often. I think about growing it out. I start the process, then hate it and go right back. Cycling? No helmet head. Hiking? No sweaty, lank, stringy hair. Cold/snow? No hat head. I cut my own with clippers and a razor comb. So easy and freeing. Thank you for being the only one I have found to celebrate your pixie and realize it is “you”.

I am having the struggle between growing it out or keeping a pixie. But I feel the best with the short hair! Loved the article.

I knowwww!! The funny thing is, despite knowing all the good things about keeping it short, the compulsion to start growing it again and again is SO real.

Lol! I, too, always go back to the pixie. I don’t know why I even attempt to grow it out anymore because I never like it or enjoy it long. It’s too much effort and I would rather spend my time doing other things than my hair. The pixie feels just right for me too.????
