If you’re shopping up a storm this weekend for gifts for other athletes or stocking up for yourself (no judgment), here are our favorite sales. In general, we love Black Friday for getting electronics and cycling gear, especially for your indoor trainer setup and healthy kitchen, since the discounts are always excellent.
Before we dive in, a reminder to shop local the rest of the season! Look, we are both small business owners/solopreneurs. So we get that it’s super important to shop local and highly recommend it. I often struggle with Strong Girl Publishing on Black Friday/this season because I’d love to offer deep discounts, but the reality is that my margins are already razor thin as it is, so it’s really not possible. A 10% discount for you would mean my authors making pennies, and me not making… anything. But at the same time, I do understand that in the current economy, you have to shop the sales. And stuff like a TV for your trainer room doesn’t make sense to buy local. So buy the stuff like that that you need, and hit up your local run shop, bike shop or fave online business (ahem, Strong Girl Publishing) and shop small for the rest of your holiday buys!

This sub-$30 speaker is great for the training room or for on the road. It balances quality with price, size and features. We got two so we could link them for more coverage around the house and a ‘surround’ sound effect, but we bring one with us whenever we’re doing extended van trips as well. It is light, has simple controls, recharges easily, is waterproof and lasts 24 hours!
Coros Heart Rate Arm Band
Many are learning that they hate using chest straps. Rather then using wrist-based optical (which is basically a random number generator, especially when riding!), try getting your cyclist buddy an arm band. Our favorite option is the COROS arm band.

Velocio is my go-to and has been for over 10 years. Quip Toothbrush + Portable Water Flosser
One of the best things I did for myself was switch to an electric toothbrush and water flosser at home, and the other best thing I did was getting a travel-friendly version. I love the Quip toothbrush for being a really compact but solid battery-powered toothbrush (the battery is great for travel since you don’t need to deal with charging it), and this small travel water flosser is SO good. It fits in even a small toiletry bag, so you take up minimal space compared to bringing your full size versions of that and a toothbrush, and I’ll be honest, it’s way simpler to use than floss when you’re trying to quickly get ready for bed in the dark.
