In this post, we wanted to share this great software with our readers because it has been so helpful for us, in so many areas of our lives and business. The Payable Addon for Google Forms is a fantastic option to solve the common problem of collecting information and payments from people, while avoiding high fees, long-term commitments or huge complicated software that does 1000x more than you need.

We’ve hosted many events over the years, from week-long cycling camps to bike skills clinics to book talks both in-person and virtually. We’ve also sold merch in-person and worked with clubs to streamline signups and registrations. And in doing all of this, we’ve seen how so many event organizers, coaches, athletes, and clubs struggle with software that makes collecting information and cash more complicated (and costly) than it needs to be.
Collect Payments in a Google Form
Whether you’re starting up a local club or a race series, you’re trying to collect cash from friends for an upcoming trip that you’ve planned or you’re hoping to get funded by local sponsors for your next season, using a Google Form with the Payable addon is the simple, affordable solution that you’ve been looking for. It was for us!
Our good friend Ryan—a tech genius who grew up racing with Peter—created the Payable addon as a solution to a common problem: Google Forms would let you collect information easily, and essentially allowed people to create sign up and order forms in seconds, but there was no way to actually get paid in the Form. Having been part of bike and ski clubs over the years, he was well aware of how much the clubs—especially smaller local clubs and race organizers who didn’t have big profit margins to begin with—were losing to the bigger software companies that had huge added fees. If you’re a 20-person club, do you really need to use something that takes a 5-10% cut on top of credit card processing fees? What about if you’re a coach just trying to get jerseys made for your athletes or run a bike skills clinic? The extra cost often gets passed to the participants… or it makes the organizer’s profit margin shrink so much that it’s not worth doing anymore.
We first started using Payable for things like one-time jersey orders for Consummate Athlete coaching clients. But we also use it for in-person book sales at events, any IRL events like clinics that we put together, and even our own sponsorship as athletes. Working with Payable, we also helped develop free Google Forms templates for common use cases that cyclists and coaches would run into.
You can use a free template & the Payable addon to…
- Organize your local bike club’s registration in one place, collecting information and registration fees (view club registration template)
- Share expenses on a bike trip, breaking down the cost of the Airbnb, car rental, massage bookings and pooled cash for groceries (view template)
- Create easy registration for a cycling event, whether it’s a one time weekend ride or a weekly race series or a bike skills clinic/camp. (view template)
- Do a t-shirt or jersey order for your 10-person 24-hour team and collect sizes plus cash in one place
- Offer subscription-based coaching – great for coaches who are just starting out and don’t have fancy websites yet! (view template)
