If you clicked on this article, it’s probably because you’ve—at many points in your life—declared that this was the time you were absolutely, positively, definitely going to start running regularly. One or two runs later, you quit again. Honestly? Running kind of sucks when you first are starting out. It hurts and it’s hard. It does get easier, and it does get more fun, but unfortunately, that only happens after a lot of miles and hard work. (And it’s still going to be hard. But you’ll enjoy it more.) Over on MapMyRun, I talked to a few longtime runners about how they got started after multiple false starts, and the cool thing is how many different answers I got. You have to figure out how you tick and what’s going to work for you, but I promise, it’s possible!
