Cycling for Social Change – Peace Peloton – Doc Wilson

by | Sep 7, 2020 | Podcast

The Peace Peloton, a Seattle nonprofit created in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, will give away van Garderen’s team-issued Cannondale SuperSix EVO Race bike to one lucky donor. The goal is to raise $25,000 to support the Peace Peloton’s community rides and programming. Individuals can make a donation of at least $50 through Sept. 20, when one individual will be chosen on the final day of the Tour during Stage 21.

Show Notes
Founded in early June by Reginald ‘Doc’ Wilson, with a message of economic reform for Black people, the Peace Peloton rides, which start and end at Black-owned businesses and feature speakers who talk about issues facing communities of color, have steadily grown in stature and attracted national and international attention.
Their mission:
  • Recruit a critical mass of mission aligned change-makers on bikes
  • Lead a cycling experience through historically Black neighborhoods, landmarks, and points of interest
  • Support Black-owned businesses at the start, along the way, and at the completion of each ride
For more information about how your city can captain a Peace Peloton chapter, please send a note to: info@peacepeloton.com, and list “Peace Peloton – (your city)” in the subject line.
