All of that said… you might still be wondering who the heck we are. Fair question. We’re Peter Glassford and Molly Hurford.
10 years ago, we met at a bike race in China (seriously) and while it wasn’t exactly love at first sight, it was pretty darn close. Since then, we’ve combined our lives, our passions and our businesses to form The Consummate Athlete.
Peter’s been a cycling coach for 20+ years now, while Molly’s been writing about endurance sport for the same time span. With our powers combined, 6 years ago we decided to launch the Consummate Athlete Podcast (and get married).
A few years later, we moved Peter’s coaching and Molly’s content under the same umbrella to create this website you’re on today. (We also got a miniature dachshund, but that’s neither here nor there.)

About Peter Glassford
Peter Glassford is a Registered Kinesiologist and a Chartered Professional Endurance Coach working predominantly with busy masters/adult endurance athletes and consulting on-bike skills, movement, and training load for groups and clubs worldwide.
Peter’s coaching philosophy is that training decisions should support consistent training. Extreme measures that sacrifice wellness or consistency are rarely warranted, especially in non-elite populations. Three tenets help guide decisions help athletes find their best performance: 80% is a passing grade; 90% of Life is showing up, and much of the training process is spent purposefully NOT going 100%.
Peter has competed in many cycling disciplines in addition to experience with team sports, running and triathlon personally and through clients during his 20+ years of coaching.

About Molly Hurford
Molly Hurford is a journalist in love with all things cycling, running, nutrition and movement-related. When not outside, she’s writing about being outside and healthy habits of athletes and interviewing world-class athletes and scientists here and for outlets like Bicycling magazine. She also coaches running and cycling, as well as yoga both online and IRL in Collingwood, Ontario.
She’s the author of multiple books including several nonfiction endurance sport-related titles in addition to the Shred Girls series.
Molly is a little obsessed with getting people—especially women—psyched on adventure and being outside. The former Ironman triathlete and cyclist now spends time racing ultra-runs on trails.
